Il Maestro di Cappella is an operatic intermezzo in one act by Domenico Cimarosa, which lasts around 20 minutes. The opera debuted some time between 1786 and 1792. The opera portrays a pompous maestro rehearsing an orchestra, often imitating the sound of the instruments. The music trasncribed here is the mini-oveture to the production.
Brass band people will recognise it as music from The Impressario , although this is a missaprorpriated title.
