Rhapsody in Blue

£20.00

George Gershiwn's Rhapsody in Blue  was written in 1924 for piano and jazz band and combines classical music with jazz. Commissioned by bandleader Paul Whiteman, it was premiered in a concert entitled "An Experiment in Modern Music" at the Aeolian Hall, New York where Whiteman's band accompanied Gershwin at the piano. Probably the most recognised of his works, it began a new era in American music.

This adaptation for brass quintet takes some of the most recognisable themes.
